About me
Jim Provenzano is the Arts & Nightlife Editor for the Bay Area Reporter, where he has held various editorial positions since 1992, including the award-winning syndicated Sports Complex column (1996-2006).
He’s the author of seven novels – “Finding Tulsa,” “Now I’m Here,” the Lambda Literary Award-winning “Every Time I Think of You,” its sequel Message of Love (a Lambda Literary Award finalist), the novels “PINS,” “Monkey Suits,” “Cyclizen,” – the commissioned stage adaptation of “PINS,” the novella “Lessons in Teenage Biology” and the short story collection “Forty Wild Crushes.” Degrees include a BFA in Dance from Ohio State University and an MA in English/Creative Writing from San Francisco State University.
A journalist in LGBT media for more than three decades, and the guest curator of the GLBT Historical Society’s “Sporting Life," the world's first LGBTQ athletics exhibit, he was born in New York City, raised in Ohio, and lives in San Francisco.
