Kathleen (they/them) is a senior staff editor on the Culture desk at The New York Times. They were previously an editor on the Arts & Leisure section and on the home page. Before joining The Times, Kathleen was the managing editor of Artnet News, a senior editor on digital projects at Christie's auction house, the Arts & Culture editor of HuffPost and a fact-checker at Popular Science. Kathleen holds a master's degree in Cultural Reporting and Criticism from N.Y.U., and hails from Omaha, Nebraska. They have written about the life of Margarita Xirgu for the Overlooked series, about the musician Phil Collins for the New Republic and about the artist Isamu Noguchi's time in an internment camp for the New Yorker. They have also written about what the word "wife" means to queer women for a Special Sections project at The Times. They are a former member of the steering committee of Times Out, the L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ employee resource group at The Times.
