About me
Starting with The New York Times Metropolitan Section at just 20 years old, Stevens has since become a frequent contributor — first covering a Brooklyn protest titled "State of Emergency" for Trans Youth, and earning two International A1 covers and two Metropolitan A1 covers before the age of 25. Her editorial work has since appeared in National Geographic, The Guardian US, The Nation, Cultured Magazine, The Gothamist, and other world-renowned publications. She was also featured in a CBS television interview alongside the Museum of the City of New York's inaugural Photography Triennial, New York Now: Home (2023).
She is a 2025 NYSCA Grantee, 2025–2026 Curve Foundation Fellow, Fall 2025 Artist-in-Residence at Yaddo, a 2023–2024 Magnum Foundation NYC Fellow, and a graduate of the Eddie Adams Workshop Class of XXXIV. Class of XXXIV.
Her infamous series, Clayton Sisterhood Project, received a full spread in the 25th anniversary edition of Reflections in Black: A History of Black Photographers 1840 to the Present — Reflections in Black: A Reframing (2025) — by Dr. Deborah Willis. The work was also selected as a 2024 Aperture Portfolio Prize Runner-Up, accompanied by a digital interview, and received the Rising Voice Grant through PhotoVogue’s 2025 “Women by Women” initiative as one of three finalists selected from nearly 100,000 submissions by over 9,500 artists across 149 countries. The recognition led to exhibiting and speaking on a panel in Milan, and continued in an exhibition in Seoul, Korea in collaboration with Vogue Korea.
Her Guardian US assignment on Black People Will Swim was honored as one of The Guardian US's Best Photos of 2024.
