Salgu Wissmath (they/them) is a nonbinary Korean American documentary photographer based in San Antonio, TX and Sacramento, CA. Their photo essays and videos explore the intersections of mental health, queer identity, and faith from a conceptual documentary approach. They specialize in documenting the LGBTQIA+ community from a decolonialized lens. They are currently a 2026 Press On Freedomways Reporting Fellow. They were a 2022-2024 Hearst Photo Fellow at the San Antonio Express-News and The San Francisco Chronicle and their work has been published in the New York Times, NPR, Wall Street Journal, Texas Tribune, San Antonio Magazine, among others. They were recognized as AAJA’s 2022 Emerging Journalist of the Year and received the 2023 Curve Award for Emerging Journalists.
